Preparing Your Quilt

PREPARING YOUR QUILT FOR MACHINE QUILTING BACKING AND BATTING MUST BE LARGER THAN YOUR QUILT TOP

THE BATTING AND BACKING MUST BE 4 TO 6 INCHES LARGER
THAN THE TOP ON ALL SIDES

THE DENSER THE QUILTING THE MORE YOUR QUILT WILL
 SHRINK DURING THE QUILTING PROCESS

IN ORDER TO ACHIEVE THE BEST POSSIBLE FINISHED
QUILT IS IS ALWAYS GOOD TO

1. TO MAKE SURE TO CLIP ALL LOOSE THREADS

2. YOUR TOP SHOULD BE PRESSED WITH ALL SEAMS FLAT.

3. IF YOUR QUILT BACK IS PIECED TAKE A 1/2 INCH SEAM AND PRESS IT OPEN OR TO ONE SIDE REMOVING THE SELVAGES IN THAT SEAM. THE 1/2 INCH SEAM MAKES THE BACK A BIT STRONGER, VERSES THE NORMAL 1/4 INCH SEAM FOR PIECING.

4. DO NOT PIECE NARROW STRIPS CLOSE TO THE OUTER EDGE OF THE QUILT BACK. THIS CAN RESULT IN UNEVEN EDGES ON THE BACK. IF YOU WANT TO PIECE STRIPS ON THE BACK ,DO SO TOWARDS THE CENTER , RATHER THAN CLOSE TO THE EDGE.

5. PLEASE REMEMBER THAT UNEVEN PIECING, PUCKERS, AND WAVY BORDERS MAY NOT QUILT OUT.

THERE IS NO NEED TO BASTE THE QUILT TOP / BATTING / BACK TOGETHER.
IT MUST BE IN THREE SEPARATE PIECES FOR ME TO LOAD IT ONTO THE MACHINE.
